Tomorrow’s forecast for Microsoft Office: Cloudy

Microsoft’s effort to bring Office into the cloud is expected to get a little clearer tomorrow morning, with a press conference slated in San Francisco. As earlier reported, the event is expected to focus on Microsoft’s cloud efforts, including the latest evolution of its hosted combo of Exchange and Sharepoint.
That bundle currently boasts the mouthful of Business Productivity Online Suite (and the even more unfortunate acronym BPOS). However, those wanting to mock Microsoft’s choice of names have only a few hours to do so, as I hear the suite is likely to pick up a new moniker along with new features.
In addition to BPOS, the company currently offers Web-based versions of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OneNote that debuted along with Office 2010 earlier this year. An update to the Mac version of Office has also been finalized and goes on sale October 26.
